What is role-based access control (RBAC) in sports club software?
Role-based access control (RBAC) is a system that limits what each person can see and do based on their job role. Instead of giving every staff member the same view, RBAC assigns permissions by function — so a Coach sees team rosters and schedules, a Treasurer sees billing, and a parent sees only their own child's data.
In sports clubs, RBAC matters more than in most organisations because the data includes minors' personal information, family payment details, medical records, and emergency contacts. Giving a volunteer coach access to all of that creates unnecessary risk for families and legal exposure for the club.
